The app shows the source beside a report or image. This page explains the principal providers and the limits of each view.
Read the original source. earthaster combines information from independent services. It is not endorsed by those providers and does not issue emergency warnings.
Event and news information

Map and event imagery
The globe uses Blue Marble: Next Generation from NASA Earth Observatory as a historical global image. It is not a current satellite photograph. Regional event images are requested from NASA Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS); the date and source appear with each image. USGS charts are credited to USGS. The bundled fallback globe image is based on Natural Earth.
We acknowledge the use of imagery provided by services from NASA’s Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS), part of NASA’s Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS).
Newsrooms
The On Air section links to official broadcaster pages. Their videos play on their own sites, subject to each broadcaster’s availability and rules. Newsroom markers identify their cities, not where they are reporting from.
